To use your own voice in Suno, create a Voices profile from your recording, complete the spoken verification, and select that profile when generating a song. Uploading an audio clip by itself is not the same as completing the Voices setup.
The useful first goal is a recognizable vocal on one short, familiar passage. Keep the recording, profile, and song settings easy to compare before making a full track or building visuals around it. This is a documentation-based workflow, not a measured voice-similarity test.
Check access before recording a new take
An old tutorial may tell you that Voices is desktop-only or always requires a paid subscription. Suno's August 7, 2026 Voices update announces iOS and Android availability and a free-plan trial. Check your account's current allowance rather than buying a plan on the strength of an older guide.
Suno's help page also notes geographic restrictions and an age requirement of 18 or older. Mobile availability therefore does not mean every account will see the feature. Official setup guide.
If the control is missing, check these separately:
- Are you in the song creation area rather than looking at an existing song's playback page?
- Is your mobile app current?
- Does the account show a trial, usage restriction, or regional availability message?
A different microphone will not solve an access restriction. Save the message you see so you can describe the actual problem if you need support.
Prepare a reference that sounds like the singer you want
Use your own voice. For a first attempt, choose a passage you can sing comfortably and reproduce without searching for every note. An original verse or chorus you know well makes it easier to judge whether the generated result preserves your vocal character.
Suno's recording advice favors a quiet space, a practice run, and a longer reference where possible, suggesting at least a minute. It also points out that the genre and vocal delivery should suit each other. Those are useful preparation principles, not a promise that a particular recording length guarantees a result.
Before uploading, listen to the file once through headphones:

Do not spend the first session buying equipment or polishing a vocal into something unrecognizable. The reference should give you a fair starting point for evaluation. Keep the original file so later changes do not erase your baseline.
Create and verify a Suno Voices profile
The official setup sequence is:
- In Create, choose Add Voice, then Create Voice.
- Record, upload your audio, or choose an eligible library song containing your voice.
- Preview the selected recording, then choose Use Voice.
- Read the displayed verification phrase aloud. Suno checks the spoken words and compares the speaker with the supplied recording.
- Name and save the profile after completing the confirmation fields.
- Select the profile in Create, add lyrics and style, and check the voice-compatible model before generating.
The documented input window is 15 seconds to four minutes, with selection of up to two minutes from the file. Follow any more specific validation shown in your current interface. Suno's Voices instructions.
Use a name that tells you which recording the profile came from, such as My voice — quiet acoustic take. This is an organizational suggestion, not a required naming convention. It becomes useful when you have several recordings and cannot remember which one produced a promising song.
Do not substitute someone else's recording or try to work around verification. If the comparison fails on your own recording, investigate the recording and microphone setup instead.
Make the first song a controlled listening check
Start with a short lyric passage and a style you know how to evaluate. Avoid changing the source recording, lyrics, instrumentation, and vocal delivery all at once.
For example, the following is an original test brief, not a special Suno command or a tested preset:
Lyrics: use one short verse you wrote and can sing comfortably.
Style: gentle acoustic pop, sparse guitar and bass, restrained percussion.
Delivery: conversational and close, with a modest lift on the last line.
Evaluation: listen to the first vocal entrance and the final held word.
Select your saved Voice through the actual interface. Writing a profile name into a style prompt is not a substitute for selecting it.
The published March 2026 Voices FAQ recommends checking v5.5 and raising Audio Influence when the output does not sound like you. That is guidance from the v5.5 era, not proof that every newer model has identical controls. During later rollouts, use the model and settings your current Voices interface supports. If an Audio Influence control is available, change it while holding the lyric passage and style steady. Do not treat a number copied from another creator as a universal target. Listen for what changes and stop increasing it if the result is becoming less useful for your song.
Separate verification problems from vocal-quality problems
A failed identity check and an unfamiliar generated singer are different failures. Rewriting a style prompt cannot repair the first one; rereading a verification phrase does not necessarily improve the second.

The verification and Audio Influence suggestions above align with Suno's troubleshooting FAQ. The listening checks are editorial suggestions for narrowing the problem, not a claim that each symptom has only one cause.
Use a small note beside each candidate:

Change from previous attempt: more restrained delivery
Keep: clear first word, recognizable low notes
Recheck: final sustained vowel sounds unlike the reference
Describe a moment you can replay. “The last word becomes thin” gives you more to investigate than a similarity score guessed from memory. Compare at similar playback levels, and keep the candidate you prefer before trying another variation.
Finish the recording before timing a lyric video
Once you choose a song version, export it using the options available to your account and retain the exact file used for the video. If you later replace the recording, recheck lyric timing and every visual cut against the new file. Two generations with the same words can still place those words differently.

Questions about using your own voice
Is a Style Persona the same as my verified Voice?
No. Suno's FAQ says Style Personas remain accessible inside the Voices menu. An older Persona workflow and the verified own-voice setup should not be assumed to be interchangeable. Check which item you selected before diagnosing the output. Voices and Personas FAQ.
Do I need a perfect studio performance?
Suno's recording advice explicitly says perfection is not the goal. A practical target is a clear recording with a delivery you want to hear again. Practice the passage, remove avoidable noise, and listen to the file before uploading it. Recording guidance.
Can someone else remix a published song featuring my voice?
The official FAQ says your voice can appear in another creator's Remix or Cover when you publish or directly share the song and enable remixing in its Publish options. Review that setting before sharing; setting up a Voice and deciding how a finished song may be remixed are separate choices. Sharing and remixing.
For your first Suno Voices session, aim to finish one verified profile and one useful comparison. When the chosen vocal works for the song, save that recording and move on to the video instead of endlessly rebuilding the profile.
